Who should seek a neuropsychological evaluation?
A comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation can be helpful in identifying and resolving a variety of challenges.
Parents may have questions about their child’s academic development and students may require supportive services in school or test-taking accommodations. Neurodevelopmental concerns can also be explored, including questions about:
-
attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
-
autism spectrum disorder
-
intellectual disability
-
developmental delays
-
learning disorders
The evaluation process can also answer questions about one’s mental health, including emotional, social, and behavioral development—thereby informing treatment interventions and additional areas that might benefit from support.
Some individuals request an evaluation to answer specific questions while others may wish to understand themselves better from a broad perspective. Individuals with complex neurological illness, significant cognitive decline, substantial brain injury, or very minimal use of language (partially verbal or non-verbal) may not be best served by our Center; the best pathway can be decided on an individual basis, with appropriate referrals made if indicated.
